MOOC Project Coordinator

Bio

Benji Holzman is the Project Coordinator of this citizen engagement MOOC at the World Bank, where he also works on related citizen engagement and governance projects. Prior to this he worked for OurSay.org, an Australian-based citizen engagement platform that links politicians to constituents through web-based forums. He was also a Project Manager for the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival, produced jointly by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which amplifies youth voices worldwide on issues of diversity, migration and social inclusion.

In addition to his background as a journalist, Benji has initiated a number of media and community-based projects that have galvanized community action for social justice. One example is Pedalling For Peace, an interfaith bike ride and accompanying film, which saw a Jew, Muslim, Christian and a Baha’i cycle over 1,000km from Sydney to Melbourne to spread the message of tolerance and understanding. He studied Political Science and History at both the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) and McGill University (Montreal, Canada), and has a Masters in Urbanization and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE).
