Vladimir Kolodkin graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Rostov State University and postgraduate studies at Voronezh State University. He defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Radio broadcasting on the Internet: principles of functioning, typology and structure of sites." Since 2005, he taught at the Southern Federal University, since 2012 - at the Don State Technical University. His key areas of interest are media production technology, theory of journalism, broadcasting, responsible media consumption. From 2006 to 2013 he was engaged in professional business journalism, managed the editorial offices of business media in Rostov region. In 2012, together with HSE experts, he organized and headed the first in the South of Russia Faculty of Media Communications and Multimedia Technologies at Don State Technical University. Winner of the Russian Federation Government Award in the field of mass media. Нe successfully completed the 2013 News Literacy Summer Institute for Teachers at Stony Brook University, New York. In 2015 Vladimir Kolodkin launched The School of News Literacy for students of Rostov-on-Don. In 2018, he participated in designing of the concept and then in launching an experimental project for the professional education of engineers for the smart agro markets within the DSTU - Institute of Emerging Technologies ("X School"). Since 2018 he has been the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Don State Technical University.
