Stefano Simontacchi

Bio

Stefano Simontacchi (1970) is the Academic Coordinator of the Advanced Transfer Pricing Course in the Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law at Leiden University and of the annual Summer Course in Transfer Pricing at the International Tax Center Leiden. Stefano Simontacchi has been an equity partner of Bonelli Erede Pappalardo in Milan (Italy) since 2008 and was appointed as Managing Partner of the firm in May 2013.
Stefano obtained a degree in business administration (specialisation in law and accounting) from L. Bocconi University of Milan (cum laude), in 1995. In 2000, Stefano obtained an Adv. LL.M. in International Taxation from Leiden University (cum laude). In 2007, Stefano successfully defended his PhD-thesis at Leiden University. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1998.
Since 2000 Stefano has been lecturing in international tax law in the Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law at Leiden University. In addition, he has lectured in Taxation and International Taxation for many years at several other universities and master programmes, such as the SDA Bocconi, the Tax Police Master Course and the IPSOA Master Course besides being the scientific coordinator of the Sole 24 ore Master Courses in Transfer Pricing held in Milan and Rome.
Stefano Simontacchi is regularly invited to speak at the most renowned international tax and law conferences and is the author of a number of publications and articles.
Before joining Bonelli Erede Pappalardo, Stefano worked for other prominent law firms such as Studio Santa Maria (2004-2007), Maisto e Associati (1998-2004) and Studio Pirola Pennuto Zei. He focuses on tax law, with particular emphasis on legal opinions, private clients, real estate and equity funds, private equity, M&A and reorganisations, transfer pricing, and tax planning. He is the coordinator of the team dealing with transfer pricing, international taxation and private clients.
The transfer pricing team headed by Stefano Simontacchi has won four times in a row (from 2011 to 2014) the European Tax Awards as best Italian Transfer Pricing Team.
