The United States presidential election process is a complex one, spanning terms like “Super Tuesday,” delegates and incumbents, primaries and caucuses, and more. Some of the founding principles of this process date back to the creation and signing of the U.S. Constitution, while others began playing a role in the 1980s. In this Teach-Out, experts in Politics, Political Science, and Education at the University of Michigan, the University of Delaware, the University of Iowa, and the Iowa Caucus Project at Drake University will address the following questions:

What is a Teach-Out?
Teach-Outs are short learning experiences, each focused on a specific current issue. Attendees will come together over a few days to learn about a subject or event and gain skills. Teach-Outs are open to the world and are designed to bring together individuals with wide-ranging perspectives in respectful and deep conversation. These events provide opportunities for diverse learners and a multitude of experts to come together to ask questions of one another and explore new solutions to the pressing concerns of our global community.
Why is the University of Michigan Creating Teach-Outs?
The U-M Teach-Out Series is part of our deep commitment to engage the public in exploring and understanding the problems, events, and phenomena most important to society. Teach-Outs are just-in-time community learning events that encourage participants around the world to come together in conversation with the U-M campus community and faculty experts.
I see there are quizzes -- do I have to pass a quiz to complete a Teach-Out?
We're offering these Teach-Outs on a platform designed for learning, so sometimes we take advantage of the platform tools. Quizzes are one way of helping everyone "get on the same page" about the topic, and be better able to discuss and ask questions. You can take the quizzes as many times as you want in order to pass, or you can move past them if you aren't interested in testing your knowledge.
Do Teach-Outs have a fee?
Teach-Outs are free learning experiences!
Can I get a Course Certificate?
No, this isn't a course, therefore we don't offer a Course Certificate.
How do I find out more about other Teach-Outs?
Check out other Teach-Outs on Teach-Out.org.
Will there be more Teach-Outs in the future?
Yes! Our team is actively working to develop new Teach-Outs. Check out upcoming Teach-Outs on Teach-Out.org.
