Hello. My name is Eliseo Cheo Torres. I'm an administrator and professor at the University of New Mexico. Today's class is part of a series of modules on traditional medicine. We're here to learn about drops of healing. What is that? You're going to find out in just a minute. We want to thank Rita, Rita Navarrete from Mexico City, and Tonita Guanzales from Albuquerque. Rita, [FOREIGN] Tonita, thank you Tonita. Thank you. [FOREIGN] Today- [FOREIGN] We're going to invite our friend Tom here. [FOREIGN] So that we can do the practice. [FOREIGN] Of this benefit. [FOREIGN] Especially what we need to have a strong spinal column, especially the column. [FOREIGN] I'm gonna ask. [FOREIGN] Take your shirt off, please. [FOREIGN] With the experience that she's had,. [FOREIGN] The spinal column. [FOREIGN] Normally, is. [FOREIGN] Sometimes people have a problem with scoliosis. [FOREIGN] When you're constantly having the same posture. [FOREIGN] Especially, when they have a lot of practice with like either on the computer or writing. [FOREIGN] Especially, if you're walking in an incorrect way. [FOREIGN] This is a very kind healing treatment that you could do with people that have spinal problems or scoliosis. [FOREIGN] But also when people have herniated discs. We know that the number one problem that people suffer from is the spinal column coming out of alignment, or having bulging discs from lifting things or doing things that are out of posture. [FOREIGN] Also when you have a problems in the cervical region or in the lumbar region. [FOREIGN] Especially for older adults. [FOREIGN] In the cases where you can't do chiropractic work, full chiropractic work, or even hands-on healing and you have to be a little bit more gentler. [FOREIGN] So, for this practice, which you really want to have is a brush. [FOREIGN] Salt. [FOREIGN] And oil that we prepare with using hot plants. [FOREIGN] And it becomes an analgesia. [FOREIGN] A relaxing oil. [FOREIGN] That we prepare using our own oils and our herbs so that you could do a very light hands-on healing. [FOREIGN] We also need towels, cotton towels. [FOREIGN] Hot water. [FOREIGN] In the hot water. [FOREIGN] You're going to deposit the salt. [FOREIGN] So what we'll do first is. [FOREIGN] We understand there's a lot of people that don't have the strength in the bone, maybe they have osteoporosis, and they can't have chiropractic work done. [FOREIGN] And to not create lesions, or to really do any additional harm to the spinal column. [FOREIGN] You gently start brushing the body. [FOREIGN] You're going from the bottom to the top. You're also running what she's doing, what she's doing is running the currents of energy, not only in how the muscles work, but we know that in both mine and Chinese medicine, you have points in the back that connect to all your internal organs. So, you're allowing the body to change its frequency of energy. [FOREIGN] Understanding that the spinal column. [FOREIGN] Also has reflective points. [FOREIGN] For all of the body and your organs. [FOREIGN] This therapy. [FOREIGN] Of sweeping the skin. [FOREIGN] You can do this softly. [FOREIGN] And the objective of this is that you're really trying to open the pores. [FOREIGN] You're releasing all the dead cells. [FOREIGN] From the back. [FOREIGN] And you'll start gently tapping the back. [FOREIGN] You're also stimulating the neurons that run through the spinal column. [FOREIGN] You may be able to start to notice that the skin is starting to get red, and you'll actually see almost like the pores opening and the skin just becoming a little bit more awake. [FOREIGN] After we've done the sweeping and we begin to gently tap the body. [FOREIGN] This will be ready your compress of hot water. [FOREIGN] With hot water. [FOREIGN] What we will do is gently squeeze out all the water. [FOREIGN] Extend the cloth. [FOREIGN] Because with the heat you'd want it to penetrate now that the pores are open. [FOREIGN] Very softly. [FOREIGN] We know that now the pores are open. [FOREIGN] So, it's absorbing. [FOREIGN] What it's absorbing is the effect of the salt, we certainly know that salt is an anti-inflammatory, so it helps to be able to bring down the inflammation and open the pores. [FOREIGN] You want to repeat this. [FOREIGN] In a way that you keep opening up the pores more profoundly. [FOREIGN] And we could protect. [FOREIGN] From the cervicals, from right underneath the neck, even lower. [FOREIGN] Bringing it down over the shoulders. [FOREIGN] Going all the way down that you could get to the sacrum. [FOREIGN] We can continue using the therapy. [FOREIGN] Now, that the cervicals are warm, she's gently dropping drops down the spinal column. It's about one drop every inch. [FOREIGN] I allow the oil to run down the back. [FOREIGN] This allows me to penetrate the oil more profoundly into the spinal column. [FOREIGN] Very softly. [FOREIGN] To share the oil and to spread it with just a light touch of her fingernails. [FOREIGN] And because it has hot herbs. [FOREIGN] I can see exactly how the oil is penetrating the skin. [FOREIGN] I'm just stimulating with the nails of my fingers. [FOREIGN] At the same time with the the tops of my fingers. If this was Smell-O-Vision, you'd be able to smell the deliciousness of this herb. [FOREIGN] This is a very kind therapy. [FOREIGN] Whether it's very gentle, whether there's arthritis or osteoporosis. [FOREIGN] Now, that it starts penetrating. [FOREIGN] I'm gonna try one more time to stimulate. [FOREIGN] I can begin to see and feel how the heat is penetrating and generating exactly within the spinal column. [FOREIGN] So, very softly. [FOREIGN] With my thumbs. [FOREIGN] I begin to stimulate. The oil that we're using has some very hot plants. So, we usually, we use mellow bar or we can use oregano, we can use rue, we can use Santa Maria. So when you start in, rue, that's another one. [FOREIGN] Aloe is another one, Eucalyptus. So, as you investigate the different properties of plants you're able to put them together and just lightly simmer them. I'd like to get at the, some of the local stores have this mini-crockpots. Put a little bit of plant, whether they're dry or fresh, we prefer fresh just because it has more oils, allow them to simmer, and you would be able to do this type of therapy. [FOREIGN] I continue stimulating really well. [FOREIGN] I stimulate the cervicals. [FOREIGN] The shoulders. [FOREIGN] I ask him to inhale and exhale. [FOREIGN] And we begin to stimulate. [FOREIGN] What I'll do now is just gently finish this up by putting a little bit of oil on this, on the back. [FOREIGN] To relax. [FOREIGN] And I go slowly and by just gently closing those pores with the gentle oil. Always having the good intention where we take nothing or give them nothing, we don't receive anything that's not ours. [FOREIGN] Now normally, this therapy takes about an hour. I give thanks to this body. [FOREIGN] I protect with a hot towel. [FOREIGN] We've finish our therapy. [FOREIGN] This is that we can share with you now. [FOREIGN] It normally last an hour. [FOREIGN] Thank you. Rita. [FOREIGN] Thank you so much. Tom, how do you feel? Awesome. Awesome. Yes. Those are the drops of healing in a very gentle massage, something you can do at home in a tradition that has been on for several years, and I want to thank Rita. [FOREIGN] Rita and Tonita for an excellent presentation. Thank you.
