As we said, implant dentistry is all about the patient.
Biology, technology, behavioral science,
it is all there to help you carry out
the most important part of every treatment:
Understand your patient
and design the treatment pathway that will serve him best.
Welcome to the second module
where we'll focus on all aspects of implant patients
and we'll learn how to make critical decisions,
which to a great extent will determine
our success or failure.
Professor Lang will unfold his patient-centred philosophy
of treatment which has inspired
and guided clinicians all over the world for decades.
You will then be introduced to the principles
of treatment planning by Professor Hammerle.
Together we will assess patients’ systemic health
and how to avoid risks with compromised patients.
You will then refresh your knowledge in anatomy
hosted by two exceptional teachers,
Dr. Ho, a dentist and researcher teaching anatomy
in HKU Faculty of Medicine,
and Dr. Yip, a talented and highly trained
young oral surgeon.
Finally, you'll see how implant dentistry
does not only have dental,
but also strong behavioral aspects.
Dr. Yao, having completed some pioneering research work
around patients' expectations
will help you understand how patients think,
what do they expect from us,
and how we can use these knowledge
to ensure successful outcomes.
