You know what a jingle is. You hear them all the time. The advertising industry has capitalized on the ability of music, of a catchy tune to stick in your head, and that little tune is paired with the message. It's what musicians usually called a hook. Something that just captures your attention immediately and inspires action. It inspires you to do something. It inspires a particular emotion, a mood, a sensation, if you will, and it's really effective, which is why jingles are all the rage on TV and radio. So in creating your personal jingle, we'll use that same idea of the mantra, the repetitive phrase, but we'll create something that speaks to you. What is the message that you need to tell yourself today, right now? What is that affirmation that you need to hear? What is it that will empower you to use the power of mantra, the focus of attention, and the message that you need in that moment, and creating something like your personal jingle or power song? You know what my favorite one is, right? So when I have a lot of things to do and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, I usually take a moment to stop everything and just sing to myself and then do a little ditty for myself. I do usually something like I can do it. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it, yes, I can. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it, I can do it, yes, I can. Yes, I can. Yeah. See how simple that was? You can do it. That's right. I'm thinking of some of the ancient teachings that inspire me. A blessing that I can give myself. There's a loving kindness affirmation that comes from Buddhist tradition that says, "May I be protected and safe. May I be contented and pleased." I find myself humming that tune. I find myself in an airplane with a little bit of turbulence, humming that tune to myself, sub vocalizing those words and bringing a sense of calm when I needed it most, when I'm a little shaky in that airplane. Yeah, it's so effective. The most important thing is you don't need anything external to create the sense of fulfillment, peace, calm, or motivation, inspiration to do something, an element to help guide you on to not procrastinate for instance. It's within you and you have the internal resources, the internal gifts, the intellect, to just steer your thoughts in a new direction and shift the situation. So we really hope that you're going to use jingles every day, little things to pep yourself up, to love yourself, to accept yourself, and to make your life simpler and easier and more enriching.
