Acerca del Curso

In this 1-hour long project-based course, you will learn how to create a basic and functional version of the popular game, Space Invaders using Java and Swing toolkit. Java is one of the most in demand programming languages, and using the Swing toolkit with it will give you a chance to easily implement many game applications. You will be able to identify and use most of the components inside the Swing toolkit that will aid you in building your own games, customized to fit your needs. In this guided project, you will be able to create a graphical user interface, populate it with your game pieces and control their movement using the keyboard. Furthermore, you will be able to make the enemy shoot automatically as the user shoots using the keyboard. Finally, you will be able to detect any hits and calculate the score. Note: This course works best for learners who are based in the North America region. We’re currently working on providing the same experience in other regions....

Sometimes you jump around the code too quickly to be able to follow it. For example in the last video at 16:55 min there's a cut in the video where you say you want to draw the background. But then the video jumps to the bottom of the code and we cannot see what you actually coded. Also, it looks like you changed something in the code which you did not show. At minute 7:55, you write the updateScore() method without a parameter, but at minute 13:32 it is suddenly shown as updateScore(alive[y]).

Maybe as a result (?), the code does not work. The spaceship cannot move to the right, only the highest rows of space invaders can get hit and disappears. So there are quite a few errors in the game.

Maybe it helps if you provide the students with your code at the end.

Also, the time we have in the cloud workspace is not enough to be able to finish the entire project.

EXTREMELY difficult to follow along for a beginner. May want to consider upgrading this lesson to an "intermediate" level.
